Amersham Gas Light and Coke Co

1851 Amersham Gas Light & Coke Co. was founded; the gasworks were constructed in Amersham.

1855 Became a Ltd Co.

The works only used horizontal retorts.

1910 Taken over by the Uxbridge & Hillingdon Gas Consumers Company

1936 Control passed to the South-Eastern Gas Corporation

1949 Vested in the North Thames Gas Board

1953 Gas ceased.
