1871 Son of Herbert Henry Martyn

1895 A carver, when he married Ada Newman; his father was also a carver[1]

1901 Managing director of sculptors (i.e. H. H. Martyn).[2]

1911 Living at York Lodge, St Georges Road, Cheltenham: Alfred Willie Martyn (age 40 born Cheltenham), Managing Director of Architectural Decorators. With his wife (married fifteen years with three children) Ada Maria Martyn (age 38 born Maisemore, Glos.) and their children Madeline Fanny Martyn (age 14 born Cheltenham), Ida Gertrude Martyn (age 12 born Cheltenham), and Cyril Newman Martyn (age 10 born Cheltenham). Also one visitor. Two servants.[3]

1917 A. W. Martyn of H. H. Martyn and Co and Hugh Burroughes of Airco arranged for their companies to form the Gloucestershire Aircraft Co to acquire the aircraft manufacturing business of H. H. Martyn.[4]. The company was producing 45 aircraft/week by 1918.

1936 A. W. Martyn, founder of Gloster Aircraft Co and chairman of V. P. Airscrews was appointed chairman of Aircraft Components Ltd[5].

1947 Died in London
