1937 Obituary.[1]

The death occurred suddenly last night at his residence, Oakfield, Salwick, near Kirkham, of Mr. Alfred Edwin Penny, managing director of Messrs. Daniel Penny and Son, Ltd., yarn agents, Chapel-street, Preston.

Mr. Penny, who was in his 63rd year, was well-known figure in the textile trade, particularly at Manchester Royal Exchange, where he was in attendance recently as Friday. Mr, Penny was chairman of directors at the Bolton Eagle Spinning Co. Ltd., and director of Messrs. Penny Brothers and Winder, Ltd., dyers, Nelson: The Premier Bleaching Co., Hapton: the Hoghton Spinning and Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; and Messrs. Winder and McKean, Ltd.. Bolton.

Mr. Penny was a trustee of the Bluecoat School, Newton, near Kirkham, and was president of the Treales Conservative Association. and represented that body on the Executive Committee the Fylde Divisional Conservative and Constitutional Association. He also was a keen supporter Preston North End. Mr. Penny leaves a widow and three daughters.
