Brief History: In 1859 Alexander Kenyon opened a small shop near Victoria Station, Salford, selling waste rags, oils, packing, etc., to mills. His son, W. H. Kenyon, joined the firm in 1885 and developed the business. He remained active until his death in 1944, aged 85. In 1900 the company introduced the first paraffin road danger lamp, called the "Manchester" By 1958, the enlarged premises at Victoria Bridge were too small, and Kenyon moved to Elizabeth Street, Manchester.'[5]
