ALEXANDER FAIRBAIRN DODDS, who was chief draughtsman in the Electricity Department of Edinburgh Corporation at the time of his death, which occurred on 20th May 1930, had been in the Corporation's service for twenty-seven years.

Upon completion of his engineering training at the works of Messrs. Bertrams of Edinburgh he was appointed draughtsman in the Department. As chief draughtsman, to which position Mr. Dodds steadily rose, he took a prominent part in the design and lay-out of the extensions to Portobello Power Station which provided for an increase of 62,500 kw. of plant.

He was born in Kincardineshire in 1881 and had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1914.
