Alexander Anderson, elected a member in 1920, was born in 1859 and served his apprenticeship at Hyde Park Works, receiving his technical training at Glasgow technical College. He spent his whole life with the British Locomotive Company at Hyde Park Works, by stages until he became General Works Manager.

On the occasion of his retirement in 1931, after 62 years’ service, he was elected an Honorary Member of the Institution in recognition of his long association and service to the Institution in Scotland.

He died on i8th December, 1936, at the age of 77.
