1897 Obituary [1]

ALEXANDER ANDERSON was the son of the late Mr. William Anderson, builder, of Belfast. He was born on the 6th June, 1863, and after being educated at private schools, entered the office of Mr. William Batt, of Belfast, a well-known surveyor and architect, with whom, after his pupilage, he remained as an assistant, engaged in a variety of general work.

In 1890 he was appointed by the Belfast Harbour Commissioners second assistant engineer under the engineer-in-chief, Mr. T. R. Salmond, and was employed on the construction of a deep-water dock and on various other works carried out at the port of Belfast.

Mr. Anderson died on the 15th March, 1896, in his forty-third year. He was a Freemason and his genial disposition gained him many friends.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 6th December, 1892.
