Educated at Heriot-Watt University

1938 Graduated with a Heriot-Watt College Diploma.

Began an apprenticeship at Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co Ltd at Trafford Park, Manchester

WWII Commissioned in the Royal Engineers.

1946 Returned to Manchester to complete his traineeship.

Worked in Metrovick's nuclear power station design and construction consortium

Seconded for a year for research at AERE (Atomic Energy Research Establishment), Harwell.

1966 Promoted to Departmental Manager

1967 Heriot-Watt University was created - his Diploma was then converted to a BSc.

1981 He retired aged 65
