2000 Acquisition of AGRA Inc, North American environmental, engineering and construction services company which had its origins in the late 19th century.

2005 Acquisition of NNC Holdings Limited, the UK’s leading private sector nuclear service business, and Paragon Engineering Services, Inc., oil and gas engineering services, based in Houston, Texas.
2007 AMEC sold its UK construction arm to Morgan Sindall
2008 AMEC sold its internal plant hire division to Speedy Hire
2008 Acquired Geomatrix Consultants Inc of California, Rider Hunt International Ltd, project services to the oil and gas sector, and Bower Damberger Rolseth Engineering Ltd; sold the wind developments business.
2009 Acquired GRD Ltd of Perth, Australia
2010 Purchased Entec UK for £61.2M
2011 Acquired MACTEC Inc and QED International Ltd
2012 Acquired Energy Safety and Risk Consultants (UK) Ltd and Unidel Group Pty Ltd
2013 Acquired Automated Engineering Services Corp.
2014 In January, AMEC provisionally agreed a £1.9bn takeover of Swiss (US) rival Foster Wheeler AG. AMEC completed its purchase of Foster Wheeler on 13 November 2014 and simultaneously changed its name to Amec Foster Wheeler
