A. Slater

1917 Manager of the motoring organisation of the Y.M.C.A.

1917 'It may not be generally known that the Y.M.C.A. has a very big motor organization. There are 30 cars serving the London district, about 70 cars in use in other parts of England, and over 100 in France, with other cars providing a motor service to the units in Salonica, Egypt, Malta, Mesopotamia, South Africa, and what was German East Africa., The motor department, which was formed since the beginning of the war, is in charge of Mr. A. Slater, who has to provide for the Y.M.C.A. cars in use in all parts of the world. For this purpose he uses a Morris-Cowley light car, which is frequently employed for long distances in various parts of the country. At present its mileage is 10,000. but except for tyre replacements, it has never required any renewals or repairs, and has only been in dock for decarbonizing.'[1]
