A. Morse

1900 'Mr. A. Morse, Superintending Engineer, 3rd Class, temporary rank, and Officiating Deputy Engineer-in-Chief of the Northern Section of the North-Western Railway, is appointed to officiate as Engineer-in-Chief of the North Western Railway with the rack of Officiating Chief Engineer, 3rd Class, during the absence of Mr. C. Thomson on privilege leave. Mr. J. Manson, Executive Engineer, 1st Grade, State Railways, is appointed to officiate vice Mr. A. Morse. '[1]

1900 'The Government of India has sanctioned a bonus of Rs. 10,000 to Mr. G. H. List, late Chief Engineer, North-Western Railway, and Mr A. Morse, now officiating Chief Engineer, North-Western Railway, for a system of interlocking points and signals known as "List and Morse patent system of interlocking." This system has been in use now for some years past on the North-Western Railway, and been the means of saving much money heretofore lost in damages to the permanent way and rolling stock through trains running foul on account of the carelessness of pointsmen. The system is to be adopted on all the railways in India, as it has been found to be a perfect arrangement for the purpose. '[2]
