Mr. Brittin was educated at Bemrose School, Derby and University College, London. After graduating in 1935 he entered the technical department of International Combustion, Ltd.

In 1939 he joined the service department of The Superheater Company, Ltd., becoming chief service engineer in 1945 in which position he remained until 1953.

During this period, while being responsible for all operation, testing and investigation on the company's superheaters in power plant boilers, he gained wide experience of Power Station operation.

Since 1953 he has been engaged on special investigations and research in connexion with the development of new designs.
