We have learned with regret of the death, on October 5th, of Mr. A. D. Markland, who spent forty-three years in the service of the British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd.

Mr. Markland, who was eighty, joined the turbine department of B.T.H. in 1903.

When he retired in 1946, he had been the assistant manager of the turbine contracts department for more than twenty years.
