After training with Joseph Lucas Ltd., at London Service Depot, joined Lodge Plugs Ltd., Rugby in 1923. Engaged in Technical Sales and Designs Department and afterwards as Competition Manager. Joined E. R. Plugs Ltd. (a subsidiary of the Ever Ready Co. Ltd.) and became a Director. Joined the above Company which is a member of the Wipac Group, in 1941. Appointed to present position, 1948. Commenced business career with William Boyes, Solicitor, Barnet. Subsequently took a clerical post with the journal " Motor and Cycle Trader." Spent many years with Joseph Lucas Ltd., retiring in 1941. In younger days was an athlete (loo yards in II seconds) and excelled also at Football, Cricket, and Cycling. PAGE, Ernest, M.I.MECH.E. With Ford Motor Co. Ltd., Dagenham. Born Manchester, 3rd October, 1902. Educated at Gorse Hill School, Stretford; Royal Technical College, Salford. Acquired exhaustive experience in marine, motor cycle and general engineering. Studied i.c. engine construction and engaged in research and experimental work on all types of i.c. engined vehicles. Was draughtsman and experimental engineer with Willys Overland Crossley Ltd., Stockport before joining present organisation.

PAGE, Valentine, M.I.MECH.E. Engineer and Designer. Born London, March, 1891. Educated at Hastings Grammar School. After serving articled apprenticeship joined J. A. Prestwich Ltd. and became their Chief Designer at Tottenham. Joined Ariel Works Ltd., as Chief Designer, Birmingham leaving them to become Motor Cycle designer to Triumph Cycle Co., Coventry. PALMER, Dennis Guy. Managing Director, Eagle Engineering Company, Ltd., Eagle Works, Warwick. Born Edgbaston, 14th June, 1910. Son of the founder of the Eagle Engineering Company, the late R. G. Palmer, M.B.E. Educated at Warwick School and studied engineering at Leamington and Acton Technical Colleges. In 1926 became apprenticed to Eagle Engineering Company, was a student also with A.E.C. Southall. First employed by the Leamington & Warwickshire Electrical Company (who, also operated a bus fleet) as shift engineer on maintenance. Later returned to Eagle Engineering as a demonstrator, taking an articulated semi-trailer, in the days when they were novelties, around the country. Became successively, Sales Representative, Sales Director, Assistant Works Manager and Managing Director, 1949. Is also a Director of J. F. Buckingham Ltd. and of the Lord Leycester Hotel, Warwick. Served apprenticeship with Kennedy Motor Co., Carntyne, (making Rob Roy Cars) 1923 .and continued apprenticeship with Beardmore Light Car Works, Glasgow. Became Draughtsman with Fairey Aviation Co., Hayes and afterwards went to Beardmore Aviation Dept. in same capacity. Served apprenticeship in father's firm for five years. In 1931 became actively interested in Motor Racing and raced Austin sevens at Southport, Brooklands, Donnington, etc. Was in Austin Works team on several occasions and also drove at Le Mans for them. Won short race at Brooklands in 7 h.p. Austin at average speed of 97.97 m.p.h. (7th July, 1934). Was Hon. Secretary Hull Section, M.A.A. for several years during the last war and liaison officer in case of emergency. Later Chairman of Section. Delegate to Yorkshire Committee M.A.A. for several years. In 1935 became apprenticed to Motor Engineering and served in Commercial Vehicle Workshop of his father's firm. Afterwards became a Partner in the business and also a Director of the family Long Distance Haulage firm. Served 1939-46 in Army with M.E.F. and C.M.F. Was M.T. Instructor, R.A.S.C., O.C.T.U. PARKER, Thomas Champness. Managing Director, Acton Bolt Ltd., 26, Chase Road, London, N.W. to. Born Cromer, 14th June, 1896. Educated at Paston School, North Walsham. As a member of Territorial Army was embodied in Norfolk Yeomanry on outbreak of 1914 war. After active service in Egypt and Gallipoli was commissioned in Royal Scots Greys. On demobilisation joined Boulton & Paul Ltd., Norwich, as buyer and then in 1923 became Director of Central Iron & Metal Co. Ltd. Left to become Managing Director of Fine Threads Ltd., and upon amalgamation of this Company with Acton Bolt in 1935, joined the Board of the latter Company, of which he is now Managing Director. PARKES, Frederick Albert. Manager, Manchester Branch, Albert Jagger Ltd. of Walsall. Born Bloxwich, 2ISt June, 1912. Educated at Bloxwich Church of England School. Trained in engineering at Walsall Technical College and became a Bench Fitter with S. Wilkes & Sons Ltd. in 1926. Remained with this firm until 1945, mainly concerned in production of Motor Car Head Fittings for new designs. During this period made contact with most leading car Manufacturers and Body Builders. Acquired Hotel in North West, in 1946 but left catering trade in 1948 to become Commercial Representative for present firm. Appointed to present position upon opening of Manchester Branch in 1950. PARKINSON, Raymond Milner, Chief Development Engineer, K.L.G. Sparking Plugs Ltd., Putney Vale. Born Lancaster, 1st June, 1908. Educated at Friends' School, Lancaster & Stramongate School, Kendal. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering, with 1st Class Hons. at University of Leeds in 1930. Received a two-year grant from D.S.I.R. to conduct original research on I.C. engine Combustion Problems, for which was awarded M.Sc. degree. In 1932 joined the former Sunbeam Motor Car Co. Ltd. as Technical Assistant to the late H. C. M. Stevens. In 1934 joined Rolls Royce Ltd., Experimental Dept. under Lord (then Mr. E. W.) Hives. Joined Alvis Ltd. as Experimental Engineer aero engine development and testing, 1936 leaving in 1938 to join Rotol Ltd., Gloucester, as experimental engineer and during war built up one of the best equipped Research Depts. in the aircraft industry. Chief work consisted of originating and perfecting electrical methods of strain-gauging propellers and aircraft structures, whilst in flight. In 1946 concentrated on small i.c. engine development on own account. Joined S. Smith & Sons (England) Ltd., 1949 as Chief Development Engineer, K.L.G. Sparking Plug Division. Served in Machinegun and Tank corps as Lieut. (mentioned in Despatches) active service in France. In 1920 joined present firm as pupil, subsequently held various executive positions and was appointed a Director in 1933. Re-joined Army and served during 1939 war in Royal Tank Regt. Served in U.K. and for three years in N. Africa (M.C. and twice mentioned in Despatches). Wounded near Tunis. Released as Lt.-Col. and re-joined Mann Egerton in 1944 as General Manager.
