KAYE, John Jacques Managing Director, John Kaye (Leeds) Ltd., Leeds, 2. Born Heslington, 8th May, 1915. Educated at Bootham School, York and Loughboro' College, (Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering). Worked through all departments of Standard Motor Co. Ltd. 1938 onwards. Completed elementary flying training at Redhill during week-ends. In 1940 joined R.A.F. and drafted to No. 23 Night Fighter Squadron. Owes life to parachute. Instructed and tested about 900 prospective pilots while commanding a Flight at Brough, East Yorks. Later instructed pilots in Parachute Dropping and Glider towing. Organised the flight of serviceable gliders from Normandy (Awarded Air Efficiency Medal). At age of i5 > joined H.M.S. Tenedos at Chatham serving 4 > years apprenticeship in shore establishment as artificer. Became engine-room artificer, R.N. serving in various ships throughout World War I,. Leaving the Navy after 15 years service in 1921. Instituted 1st coach service between Chatham and London. Founded above firm and operated Orange Coaches, Chatham, 1922. Built up Orange Coaches business, selling it in 1930. In 1931 converted Car and Electrical Services into Limited Company. During the war was Officer Commanding R.A.S.C. Bakeries, Motor Transport, Petrol and Ammunition Units. Educated at Eccles, Altrincham and Bramhall Grammar Schools and at Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks' School. Studied engineering at Manchester Technical School and became an apprentice in 1907. With his two brothers started in Motor Trade in 191o. Their father joined them in the business in 1916 and the Limited Company was formed in 1919. KEMP, Allen Frederic, M.I.MECH.E.) Joint Managing Director (Technical), Eustace Watkins Ltd., S.W.3. Born London, June, 1889. Educated at St. Pauls; University College, London. Served apprenticeship with Simms Manufacturing Co. remaining afterwards in drawing office. Became Works Manager to Valveless Ltd. and on leaving commenced business on own account. Joined up in Artists' Rifles and in 1915 transferred to Royal Flying Corps. Served until 1919 as pilot. On demobilisation joined Aluminium Alloy Pistons Ltd. and in 1923 joined present firm, starting service depot. Is also Director (Managing) of Whittingham, Mitchell Ltd. Moved to Reading on father selling his interest. At Reading father founded Kemp's Bus Services, later converting it into a Limited Company called Kemp's Motor Services Ltd. Served during war as Column Officer, N.F.S., acting as Transport Officer in charge of South/South East London's vehicles. Entrant in most large International Rallies since the war, usually with a team of three Hillman Minx's (e.g. Monte Carlo Rally, 1949-50-51, Dutch Tulip Rally, 1949-1950-1951). KENDRICK, Frederick Walter, A.M.I.MECH.E. Tyre Export Manager, Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., London, S.W.I. Born West Bromwich, 4th October, 1906. Educated at King Edward VI School. Son of a Midland Ironfounder, trained as Mech. Engineer. Joined Dunlop's when 21. Travelled abroad extensively to Middle East, S. American countries and to Europe, 1933-37. Became Service Manager at Dunlop Factory in S. Africa, 1937-49. Received commission in S.A. Engineer Corps in 1939, becoming a Major. Demobilised in September, 1945. KENILWORTH, Rt. Hon. Lord, C.B.E., F.R.AE.S. (John Davenport Siddeley.) Born Manchester, 1866. Educated Altrincham and Beaumaris. Knighted in June, 1932 and received Peerage in 1937. Joined Humber Cycle Co., as draughtsman in 1892, and in 1896 went to Rover Cycle Co. Made first Siddeley Car in 1902-3. In 1904 joined Wolseley Co. and produced the Wolseley Siddeley. In 1909 founded Siddeley Deasy Motors in Coventry, with the late H. H. P. Deasy. Between 1914-18 made Siddeley Puma aircraft engines. Produced the Siddeley six cylinder car in 1919. Left in 1918, and founded present business in the following year, in partnership with F. W. Hiscock who retired in 1945. Founder member of Solihull Rotary Club. Is father of J. W.
