This is an organization associating a large group of British Engineering Manufacturers, whose products are I famous in all parts of the world for their high standard of quality and efficiency.

The twelve principal Works occupy some 200 acres and give employment to 10,000 British workpeople. They are run on up-to-date lines, and the manufacturing methods are constantly being improved by the introduction of the most efficient machinery.

AVELING and PORTER LIMITED, ROCHESTER, who produced the first steam roller in 1867, have been the leading makers of steam rollers ever since. Their latest design embodies important improvements producing greater fuel economy, better steam raising, more power reserve, combined with lower maintenance costs. In addition to a complete range of standard 3-wheel type steam rollers, they make quick reverse tandem steam rollers and a full range of crude oil rollers, with slow-speed, single-cylinder engines of great simplicity, making them ideal for unskilled or native labour. Concrete mixers of various sizes are also made.

BARFORD and PERKINS LIMITED, PETERBOROUGH, by far the largest makers of motor rollers for road construction and maintenance, paths, sports grounds, etc., recently introduced the high-speed diesel engined roller, the most economical road roller yet made. This firm have an immense business also in garden rollers, "Cleena Milk” sterilising chests, and other dairy plant, low-pressure steam boilers, steam-cooking apparatus, etc.

A recent addition to their products is the first successful mechanical poultry plucking machine. An improved mower has just been brought out, and the firm also makes small petrol and paraffin engines.

Recently they introduced a range of self-contained crude oil engines with hopper cooling.

PETER BROTHERHOOD LIMITED, PETERBOROUGH, make. of compressors for air, ammonia or other gases, refrigerating plants, high-speed steam engine for marine and land work, steam turbines, turbo-generators, water-cooling towers, petrol paraffin and crude oil engines, and the "Peterbro'" agricultural and industrial tractor. A great feature is made of designing special machinery to solve clients' individual problems.

BULL MOTORS LIMITED, IPSWICH, manufacture high grade electric motors and generators, both A.C. and D.C. Special safeguards against electrical breakdown are provided by the use of reinforced mica insulation and vacuum impregnation of all windings.
