271. TUXFORD and SONS — Boston and Skirbeck Iron Works, Boston, Lincolnshire — Manufacturers.

Patent six-horse power portable housed steam-engine, for thrashing, grinding, sawing, pumping, and general agricultural purposes. The improvement consists in arranging the working parts, and enclosing them in a box or house, to protect them from the grit and dirt of farm work, from the weather, and from all improper interference, by being locked. The cylinder being upright, it will not wear oval as when placed horizontally.

Four-horse power engine, on the same principle as the preceding.
