- Edmund Potter and Co of Dinting Vale, Manchester, were one of the largest calico printers in Europe.

- Edmund Potter was the grandfather of the children's author Beatrix Potter. His fabrics were often used as binding. Special “de-luxe” copies were bound in lovely calico featuring pansies in shades of periwinkle and purple with yellow and green accents. [2]
