James Butterworth of Butterworth

1820 January 2nd. Christened at St. Peters, Bolton le Moors the son of Lawrence and Ann Butterworth. Lawrence Butterworth and Ann Gorst were married on the 4th March 1816 at Leigh

1837 Partnership in respect of Lawrence Butterworth, a cotton-spinner of Bolton-le-Moor dissolved. Others were Alexander Garrett and Henry Macoun [1]

1851 Living at 22 Storks Street, Cheetham (age 31 born Bolton), Machine broker. In the house of his parents Laurence (age 58 born Oldham), ??? business, and Ann (age 54 born Wigan) and his sister Ellen (age 24 born Bolton), a dress-maker. [2]

With his children Annie (age 21), James (age 15), Florence (age 13), Amy (age 8) and Alfred (age 6). Also one servant. Note: His son Lawrence is a Private R.M.L.I. at Walmere Barracks, Kent. [4]
