1977 Staveley Industries owned a "protective stake" in Barton and Sons[3]
After 1981 the public quoted company was Barton Group[4]

- Barton Abrasives, of Wolverhampton
- Barton Aluminium Foundries, of Birmingham
1983 Caparo Industries had acquired Staveley's stake in Barton Group of Birmingham, makers of tubing and provider of industrial services and engineering, and then bought the remainder[6]
