1971 A. and P. Appledore International was formed as a marine engineering consultancy by Court Line and the owners of Austin and Pickersgill, owning 50 percent each; Court Line already owned Appledore Shipbuilders[1]
1974 After Court Line was placed in bankruptcy, its stake was taken up by others[2]
1977 The consultancy had done much work for British Shipbuilders so discussions took place as to whether the nationalised industry should acquire a stake in the company[3]
1977 A. and P. Appledore International won a contract to advise 2 Indian shipyards[4]
1984 Company quoted on the stock market when George Wimpey and Co sold its holding[5]
1985 Acquired the Falmouth ship-repair yard in a JV with the Bellway construction company
1986 Acquired Tower Maritime Ship Repair Services[6]
1987 A public quoted company when it was acquired by Highland Participants, an oil and gas exploration company. The company controlled Falmouth docks and harbour facilities. It also owned 50 percent of Cuehold which controlled the Falmouth ship repairing business and some land; the other 50 percent was owned by Bellway Group which share would also be acquired by Highland.[7]
1989 Was a subsidiary of Highland Participants when it rescued the Hall, Russell and Co shipyard of Aberdeen[8]
