William Shepherd Stagg (1883-1942)

William Shepherd Stagg was born in 1883 and apprenticed to general engineering, subsequently gaining experience on automobile work with various firms.

In 1910 he became Works Superintendent of Auto Carriers, Ltd., Thames Ditton, and remained with the firm until 1917, when he undertook work of national importance as Production Engineer in a national Aero-Engine Factory.

At the end of the war he took a position as Repairs Manager with Grahame White Co., Ltd., Hendon, and later, in 1922, became Works Manager of Keith and Boyle, Ltd., where he remained until 1940.

He died on 10th November, 1942, at the age of 60.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1909.
