BOULTON, Professor William Savage; b. 1867, at Oldswinford, Worcs.; s. of Joseph William Boulton. Educ.: King Edward's Middle School, Birmingham, Mason College, and Royal College of Science. Demonstrator and Assistant Lecturer in Geology, Mason College, Birmingham, 1890; Professor of Geology, University College, Cardiff, 1897; Professor of Geology, University of Birmingham, 1913; Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Birmingham, 1926-1929; M.Sc. of the University of Birmingham; Professor Emeritus, University of Birmingham; D.Sc. of the University of Wales; Associate of Royal College of Science, London; Fellow of the Geological Society of London, Vice-President, member of Council and Murchison Medallist. Member of Institute of Mining Engineers (and past member of Council); Professional Associate of Institution of Water Engineers; past President of South Staffordshire and Warwickshire Institute of Mining Engineers; past president of Birmingham Natural History and Philosophical Society; president of Geological Section of British Association for the Advancement of Science, 1916; past member of many Government Boards and Committees for scientific organization and research; past member of Safety in Mines Research Board of Mines Department; m. the d. of H.
