1854 Patent. William Rye and William Crowther, both of Oldham, engineers, for improvements in steam engines.[1]
1861 Living at Pit Bank, Oldham: William Rye (age 52 born Manchester), Millwright and Engineer employing 224 men. With his wife Nancy Rye (age 40 born Oldham) and their three children; Mary H. Rye (age 17 born Oldham); Isabella Rye (age 12 born Oldham); and John B. Rye (age 3 born Oldham).[2]
1869 Mayor of Oldham, of Albert Mount, Oldham.[3]
1882 January 15th. Died.
