Wilfred Harold Kneller was born in 1893 and apprenticed to John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd.

After serving as Junior Engineer with the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. for a year he returned to Thornycrofts as Foreman.

In 1919 he became a Partner in the firm of Kneller and Chandler and worked as Chief Engineer in the firm until his death on 13th August, 1943, at the age of 50.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1940.
