Watson, Laidlaw and Co of 98 Dundas Street, Glasgow, engineers of centrifugal machinery; manufacturers of machines for sugar, chemical, laundry, and textile industries.
1883 Formed by Mirrlees, Watson and Co and Mr John Laidlaw, who was in charge of the centrifugal department of that company[1].
1885 Gold medal for invention in respect of self-balancing centrifugal machine and hydro-extractor (Weston's patent), self-balancing electro-centrifugal machine and hydro-extractor (Watts' patent); also oil separator.
1889 Showed a hand-powered Victoria separator at the RASE in Windsor. [2]
1894 Cowper-Coles Cold Galvanising Process installed at their works. Article and illustration. [3]
1900 They issued a catalogue describing separators for a sugar-making plant. [4]
1900 June. Royal Agricultural Show at York. Showed cream separators. [5]
1907 Private company.
1913 Silver medal at Dairy Show for cream separator[6].
1914 Engineers and millwrights. Speciality: sugar machinery. [7]
1949 Company made public. Special issue of shares to existing shareholders.
1961 General engineers and manufacturers of laundry machinery, centrifugal machinery, hydro extractors and centrifugal separators. 350 employees. [8]
