1925 Obituary

"The death took place in London, last Saturday of Mr. Walter Tyzack, who was well known in Sheffield in connection with the cutlery industry. Mr. Tyzack, who was the fourth son of the late Mr. William Tyzack, of Sheffield was born in November, 1857, and was educated first at Bowling's Academy, and then at the Rev. Thomas Howarth's school. After some short periods spent in Norway and Sweden he began his business career with the firm of Needham, Beall and Tyzack, in 1879, and when the firm became a limited concern, he was made the first chairman. For many years he was a member of the Cutler's Co and the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. He was a founder and president of the Sheffield Cutlery Manufacturers' Association; and he was also prominently associated with the Sheffield Silversmith's Association. During the war he rendered valuable assistance to the Ministry of Munitions, and was later a member of the Board of Referees which dealt with excess of profits. In consequences of a seizure which he experienced in March, 1922, from which he never fully recovered, he gave up active participation in the business of Needham, Beall and Tyzack, and came to live in London some twelve months ago.
