W. E. Lewis BSc, Fellow, gained engineering experience in his early career at Monmouthshire Technical College, with the RAF, A. Napier & Son and Dowty Fuel Systems Ltd.

After graduating from the University of Wales in 1956, he joined English Electric Co as a research engineer and held a series of appointments up to Head of the Fluid Flow and Thermodynamics Group.

In 1969 he joined the Irvin Air Chute Co of Great Britain as manager of the R and D Division and is now Director—Corporate Development with the Irvin Company.
