1954 Tony Vandervell developed the Vanwall racing car, which appeared at Silverstone driven by A. Ascari, the Grand Prix champion[1]

c.1956 C. Chapman redesigned the Vanwall racing car for Tony Vandervell, bringing in Frank Costin to provide aerodynamic design.

1956 A Vanwall car won the International Trophy Race at Silverstone driven by Stirling Moss; its chassis had been designed by C. Chapman[2]; the car was successful in many further races

1959 Tony Vandervell gave up racing for health reasons

1960 Vandervell returned to motor racing with a new car
