Vale of Llangollen Railway

From Graces Guide

The Vale of Llangollen Railway was the first stage in railway communication from the Chester and Birkenhead to the Welsh Coast.

Sanctioned in 1859, and opened on December 1st 1861, it began at Ruabon and went to Llangollen.

1868 Engineer is Henry Robertson.[1]

It amalgamated with the Great Western Railway in 1896.
