1900 Sale Notice: 'THOMAS GUEST & CO. LIMITED, in liquidation. —TO BE SOLD by Tender, as a going concern, the Old-established BUSINESS of MACHINE MAKERS and IRONFOUNDERS carried on by Thomas Guest and Co Limited, at the Phoenix Ironworks, Poland-street, Oldham-road, Manchester, together with the Land and Buildings which the business is conducted, and the Engine, Boiler, and Working Plant connected therewith. The land is freehold and contains 2,727 square yards or thereabouts, and is subject to a chief rent of £125 9s. 2d. per annum. The buildings consist of turning and fitting rooms, pattern store foundry, grinding shop, smithy, offices, and outbuildings. The company have the right to use water from the canal for steam purposes.
