Thomas Edwin Beveridge White was born in 1888, and was educated at Clapham School. His first post was at the British Museum, but as the work was not very congenial to him he obtained an appointment in the Motor Engineering Department at Battersea Polytechnic, and subsequently became demonstrator.
Early in 1915 he contracted a serious illness which incapacitated him for two and a half years, and in 1917 he took up a position in the Inspection and Experimental Department of Trojan, Croydon. The last eleven years of his life were a constant struggle against tuberculosis, necessitating many operations and much suffering.
He died on 14th March, 1926.
He was elected a Graduate of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1908, and was transferred to Associate Member in 1919.
