Stockton and Hartlepool Railway

From Graces Guide

This line ran from Billingham to Hartlepool as an extension to the Clarence Railway and opened for goods traffic in 1840 and passengers a year later. Messrs. George Leather and Son, of Leeds, were the engineers-in-chief, and John Fowler, their assistant, was the resident engineer."

In 1844 it acquired a 21-year lease of the Clarence Railway

It floated the Hartlepool West Harbour and Dock Company and then amalgamated it in 1852 and became the West Hartlepool Harbour and Railway.
