Chronology

1844 Henry Smith recruited Thomas Woodhouse Ashby into his business

1853 Thomas W. Ashby joined Henry Smith and Co presumably as a partner and the business became known as Smith and Ashby.

The Rutland Terrace Ironworks expanded again with premises in the Tithe Yard.

1857 Henry Smith retired and Smith and Ashby became T. W. Ashby and Co
