1971 Shandon Southern Instruments, a subsidiary of Plantation Holdings seemed to recovering from a bad patch.[3]

1974 Shandon Southern Instruments developed a spectrophotometer to give an immediate read-out regarding the concentration of chemicals and pharmaceuticals.[4]
