SAMUEL MOORHOUSE was associated throughout his professional career with the firm of Messrs. Fairbairn Lawson Combe and Barbour, Ltd., textile machine manufacturers, of Leeds and Belfast, for no less than fifty-four years.

Entering the drawing office at an early age in 1877, he rose by successive stages to the position of managing director of the Leeds branch in 1921. He held this appointment until his retirement in 1931. Mr. Moorhouse, whose death, in his eightieth year occurred on 12th April 1944, was elected a Member of the Institution in 1913.
