1789 Born in Manchester; baptised son of Thomas and Francis Sharp[1]; brother of Thomas

1806 The two brothers had a workshop in Manchester for the manufacture of tools and general machines.

1823 A third brother, John, joined the firm

1825 Married Henrietta Elizabeth Campbell in Dublin[2]
