ROBERT ASPLAND BELLWOOD during the whole of his long professional career, was associated with the firm of Messrs. Rose, Downs and Thompson, Ltd., engineers, of Hull.

He was born in 1866 and began a six years' apprenticeship at the works in 1881, on the conclusion of which he continued in the drawing office, where he had already gained his early experience, and subsequently rose to be leading draughtsman. He was promoted to the post of assistant manager in 1899, a position which he occupied for nineteen years.

Since 1918 he had been a director of the company and continued to hold office until his retirement shortly before his death, which occurred on 27th October 1944. Mr. Bellwood was elected a Member of the Institution in 1920.
