A process for softening water.

1876 John Henderson Porter started developing Dr. Clark's process for softening water[1]

1878 Porter's patented process combined bicarbonate of soda with Clark's lime process[2]

1887 A division of scientific opinion prevented the inhabitants of Bristol using the Porter-Clark process because of the high level of magnesia in their chosen water supply[3]

1902 Company voluntarily put into liquidation[4]

1907 Company removed from the register of companies
