1892 The Pioneer Telephone Co was formed to acquire the Mutual Telephone Co as a going concern, and for the purpose of providing capital for the New Telephone Co, which had been formed to acquire and operate telephone exchanges in the UK[1]. Subsequently the New Telephone Co acquired the interests of Pioneer in the Mutual Telephone Co[2]
