1908 Maker of Osborne four-speed motor bicycle pulleys. This device has a sliding flange which can be locked in four distinct and different positions, a jockey pulley being raised into engagement with the belt to take up the slack on the lower gears.

A complete machine was also shown in which the gear was an integral portion and the back wheel was slid bodily backwards instead of using a jockey pulley when it is desired to tighten the belt.

1909 April. Advert. 'THE NEW OSBORNE 3 1/2 h.p. Peugeot MOTORCYCLE: 4 speed gear, fitted with back sliding wheels, doing away with jockey pulley and all belt difficulty. It has climbed the Steep-hill up the Strait, right to the Cathedral. Demonstration by appointment OSBORNE MOTOR CO., Princess Works, Salthouse lane, Lincoln.[1]

1911 June. Advert. 'THE OSBORNE MOTORCYCLE, the finest in the world. Obtainable in Lincoln only from the actual Manufacturer. Agents in every other town. Come and see and judge for yourself.
