OLIVER BUDGE, born at Swindon on the 28th June, 1847, served an apprenticeship of 7 years in the Locomotive Department of the Great Northern Railway under his father, the late Mr. John Budge, and subsequently was employed for 2 years under the late Mr. W. Stroudley on the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway.
In 1873, on the recommendation of the late Sir George Barclay Bruce, he was appointed Locomotive Superintendent of the East Argentine Railway, and in 1881 he became General Manager, Chief Engineer and Locomotive Superintendent to the company.
He resigned these offices in 1907, on the amalgamation of the company with the Argentine North Eastern Railway, and joined the board of directors of the Buenos Ayres Midland Railway, subsequently becoming Chairman.
He died on the 10th March, 1909, aged 61.
Mr. Budge was elected a Member of The Institution on the 4th December, 1888.
