Norman Wilfrid Johnson was born in 1888 and was apprenticed to engineering with the Sunbeam Motor Company.

After a period in the engine test department of the Arrol Johnston Motor Co. he joined Armstrong Siddeley Motors and remained there until the time of his death in the capacity of Service Manager.

He died on 7th July, 1942, at the age of 53.

He was elected a Graduate in 1909, being transferred to Associate Member in 1919. He became a full Member in 1932.
