1970 Tonks Holdings acquired William Newman and Sons, forming Newman-Tonks[1]

1978 Acquired Econa Modern Products[2]

1982 Peter Anderson and Peter Haywood were appointed in management.[3]

c.1983 Acquired Jeavons Engineering Co[4]

1985 Sold Econa Castings[5]. Newman-Tonks won a battle to take-over R. Cartwright Holdings[6]

1986 Newman-Tonks held off a take-over bid by McKechnie Brothers[7] but acquired Peerless.

1991 Newman-Tonks acquired the Worcester Parsons door and window fittings business from McKechnie Metals[8]

1997 Acquired by US company Ingersoll-Rand[9]. Sold NT Jenkins, window timber business, to its management[10]
