Shortly after WWI, Wisbech Produce Canners was formed as a private company by Samuel Wallace Smedley, with some fruit growers, to bring to Britain canning techniques then in use in the USA.[1]

1931 Public company incorporated to acquire Wisbech Produce Canners

1935 The 4th Ordinary General Meeting of the company with Samuel Wallace Smedley presiding [2]
