1873 Obituary [1]

The death is announced of Mr. Darwent, who not very long since undertook the construction of the northern portion of the Australian overland telegraph between Port Augusta and Port Darwin. The contract was annulled by official authority, and the proceeding is now a subject of litigation.

At the time of his death Mr. Darwent was only 48 years of age.
