1911 The Standard Oil Company of New York, or Socony, was founded.

1920 the Socony company registered the name Mobiloil as a trademark for its lubricating oils.

Distributed by Vacuum Oil Co.

1931 Vacuum Oil Company of Rochester merged with the Standard Oil Company of New York to form Socony-Vacuum Oil Company Inc.

1955 Socony-Vacuum was renamed Socony Mobil Oil Company.

1955 The Vacuum Oil Company changed its name to Mobil Oil Co.
