From Graces Guide

Road tunnel under the River Mersey, between Liverpool and Birkenhead

1922 Sir Basil Mott, C.B., Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice, C.M.G., M.I.Mech.E., and John Alexander Brodie reported in favour of this scheme.

1925 Brodie was appointed joint engineer for the tunnel with Sir Basil Mott.

See Queensway Tunnel.

Queensway is often called the Birkenhead Tunnel, to distinguish it from the newer Kingsway Tunnel, which serves Wallasey.
