MAURICE PETERS died on January 6, 1914. He received his technical training at the Lidge School of Mines, after which he spent three years in the Beaudoux Glassworks.
In 1897 he entered the blast-furnace department of the Societe d'Ougree Marihaye, in whose service he remained until the time of his death. During the years he was connected with this undertaking, the production of pig iron increased from 150 tons to 1000 tons per day, the whole plant has been modernised, and the gases from the blast-furnaces have been utilised for the production of power. He also took an active part in the management of the company's collieries.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1909.
