Liverpool Tramways

From Graces Guide

In September 1870 the Liverpool Tramways Company and the Liverpool Road and Railway Omnibus Company merged to become The Liverpool Tramways and Omnibus Company.

A further merger in 1876 saw the name changed again to the Liverpool United Tramways and Omnibus Company Ltd.

On 15th July the Liverpool Tramways (Transfer) Act 1897 was passed and Liverpool Corporation took over the control of the tram services and amalgamated the generation of electricity with that of the Liverpool Electric Supply Co Ltd.
